All the families of Xiaojun Meng suffered a serious car accident. A truck rammed his motorcycle and Xiaojun Meng was hurt badly and her four-year-old daughter was suffered a fearful brain damage, but her wife was dead, unfortunately.
In order to save her daughter, she must be conducted an expensive operation within a week, which costs ?120,000. Since Meng is a car mechanic in a small town, there is no doubt that Meng cannot pay the operation fee. At last, he followed the mortuary administrator, Lao Zhang’s advice, that is, he would sell his wife’s remains to rural and got her Yin married with a dead young man.
He took his wife’s photograph to the rural and found the man’s parents to talk about the business. The young man’s mother cried when she saw the photograph of Meng’s wife. Meng understood the mom’s behavior, because he knew this may be the last thing that the parents can do for their son.
When the deal was made, Meng sat alone at home. At this time, he heard a noise from the bathroom. To his astonishment, his wife stepped from the bathroom. Meng talked with her about the small things, and then his wife hurried to go to work and asked Meng not to forget to get their daughter in the night. When she would go, Meng told her “do not worry about it.” After he said this sentence, Meng found that there was no people in the home but himself. Suddenly, his eyes filled with tear. He wanted to cry but he was unable.
Meng came to the mortuary to see his wife for the last time. Then his wife would be taken to the rural. Meng watched his wife and cried finally, helpless but relieved.
In the rural, the Yin marriage was processing. After the funeral, people started to burn the funerary objects; meanwhile, Meng watched his daughter was pushed to the operation room, anxiously waiting outside. When the doctors finished the operation and went out of the operation room, they found that Meng had fallen in a sleep leaning against the bench, because he was so tired.
The cemetery of his wife located in a clear stretch. When the darkness fails, the long slender bars of cloud float in the sky. Grey threads of some came from the remaining burned funerary objects. What a quiet scenery it is!
